By the way: The following nutrition tips apply to everyone – whether you’re a man or a woman, Pregnant women or athletes. Apart from point 9, they also apply to children.
1. Eat versatile
A little bit of everything – one of the most important nutritional tips is: Eat as varied as possible, then you will supply your body with all the important vitamins and minerals. So don’t just buy the same types of fruit and vegetables, but try out new ones.
Tip: In addition to pasta and rice, millet, quinoa or amaranth also taste great as a side dish – definitely try it out.
2. Whole grain instead of white flour
There are considerably more nutrients in whole-wheat flour than in highly ground white flour. One of the easiest nutrition tips to implement is therefore: Swap white flour products for whole grain products as often as possible. Try whole wheat pasta, they taste a little nutty and very good with a tomato sauce or Bolognese. Whole grain bread, brown rice or whole grain cakes also taste great.
Tip: It is enough if you swap some of the flour for wholemeal flour when baking a cake.
3. Eat vegetables and fruits daily
Vegetables and fruits are real vitamin and mineral bombs. Another plus: They hardly contain any calories. Therefore, try to eat three servings of vegetables and two servings of fruit a day.
Tip: Get used to eating either fruit or vegetables at every meal. For example, a couple of cucumber and tomato slices for breakfast, a large portion of vegetables at lunchtime and fruit as dessert, and salad or raw vegetables with bread in the evening.
4. Insert vegetarian days
Nobody has to become a vegetarian, but if you want to do something for your health, you shouldn’t eat meat or sausage every day. Better to have a vegetarian day when you skip meat and fish.
Tip: You don’t know what to cook without meat or fish? Many vegetable stir-fries, casseroles or pasta dishes can do without.
5. Sugar & fat bombs in moderation
Cake, sweets, fast food, chips or ready meals: Yes, they taste great without question. But if you are looking for nutritional tips for losing weight, you should restrain yourself when it comes to enjoyment. You are allowed to use it, but not every day and only eat small portions.
Tip: Think about what you particularly like to eat and then determine how much of it you want to eat per week. For example 1 piece of cake and 1 bar of chocolate. You can then divide it up as you wish.
6. Cook fresh and low in fat
It tastes best if you cook it yourself and you know what’s in your food. Ready meals often contain additives, a few vitamins and minerals and lots of extra calories. Prefer to cook yourself, use fresh ingredients and make sure not to use too much fat during preparation.
Tip: If you don’t have much time, you can pre-cook larger portions and then freeze them.
7. Don’t follow every diet trend
Vegan nutrition, low carb or paleo: there are always new trends and nutrition tips that are good for the body or help you lose weight. Don’t let that impress you, you don’t have to follow every trend – especially not if you don’t like it.
Tip: Read through the trends in peace, be critical and then decide whether you want to try them. But don’t force yourselves. This also applies to trendy foods such as chia seeds or goji berries. They may be good, but so are other foods.
8. Drink enough water
The body loses a lot of fluid through the skin – and not only when you sweat. You should therefore drink enough. At least 1.5 liters are ideal, preferably water. In summer or during sport, of course, more.
Tip: Always have a bottle of water with you or stand a full glass of water next to you. So don’t forget to drink.
9. Alcohol in moderation
Nothing against a glass of wine, that must be from time to time without question. But if possible, do not drink alcohol daily or overdo it. Alcohol is a stimulant and not something to quench thirst or to wash down frustration.
Tip: At the beginning of the week, determine how many glasses you want to drink per week and end when you have reached the limit. There are also many great non-alcoholic cocktails that taste great.
10. Eat with pleasure
Last but not least: eat with pleasure! Don’t let nutrition tips spoil your appetite. If you listen to your body, eat with joy, and enjoy every bite, there is a good chance you are doing everything right. It doesn’t matter if you fail to implement one of the tips or if you go overboard.
Important note at the end: An active lifestyle with a balanced diet and lots of exercise is still the best way to stay fit and to achieve or maintain a healthy weight.
